(Oven) Baked Chicken Nugget

Chicken Nugget

Most of children like to eat chicken nugget (although mine doesn’t cause I seldom give him this food, and he prefers fish nugget than chicken nugget), but we sometimes have that guilty feeling of letting them eating the fried food so often.

For me, I never feed my kid  with store-bought chicken nuggets, which nobody knows what’s inside them. If I want my kid to eat chicken nugget, I prefer to make it myself.

So based on those two explanations above, I searched for a simple homemade chicken nugget that is healthy, free of oil, but also delicious. This recipe can be the answer. But before you cook this, remember that this is baked chicken nugget. The taste and crispiness might not be exactly the same as the fried ones, but it is equally tasty and not greasy at all (I hate to clean up my stove and my kitchen floor that covered with oil, so I say yay for this recipe….).

It doesn’t take a long time to prepare and cook this, so this is a must try recipe for parents. This is absolutely a healthier version to cook chicken nugget.


  • 300 gr boneless chicken, cut in thin slices (about 1.5 x 5 cm)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumb
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt


Making breadcrumb mixture:

  1. Spread 2 tbsp of breadcrumb in baking sheet
  2. Preheat oven to 200 C
  3. Bake for 5 minutes (or until golden brown)
  4.  Combine 2 tbsp breadcrumb, 2 tbsp baked breadcrumb, 2 tbsp parmesan cheese, and salt in a bowl

Cooking the chicken:

  1. Coat the chicken in flour, shaking off any excess of flour
  2. Dip the chicken in egg
  3. Coat well in breadcrumb mixture
  4. Transfer the chicken to the baking sheet
  5. Preheat oven to 200 C
  6. Bake the chicken until for 25 minutes, turning when halfway through
